Abrams hires writer for ?Earthquake? reboot

Back in 2008 we reported that JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot production company were working on a project with Universal to reboot the 1974 disaster movie Earthquake. This would be unusual for Abrams who has a deal with Paramount Pictures, however this film seems to be an exception. Nothing had been reported on this project since the summer of 2008 (and JJ has been busy since then), but now Deadline is reporting the project is back and Abrams has tapped a new writer, bringing in Lance Black (Milk).

Abrams and fellow Star Trek producer Bryan Burk are set as producers of the film. No director has been announced. The film is expected to be a new story and not a remake of the original Earthquake (see original trailer below).

New Olympic Revolution Promo

Speaking of Abrams and disaster-related projects. NBC is airing a new promo for Abrams new show Revolution, set after the world has lost all power. The new promo is running during the networks Olympic coverage and has a bit of an Olympic theme.
