Canadian Natural Mama ~ Product Reviews

Let me introduce another AMAZING Canadian shop, one that is both an online store and an "old fashioned" brick and mortar store, based in Regina, Saskatchewan...Precious Earth.

Not only is Precious Earth an awesome shop if you are in the market for earth friendly products for your whole family, but you are guaranteed to get awesome customer service as well. Tanya, the mama who owns and runs the shop is the most genuinely caring, positive woman ever. She is a mama first, and if you have been to her shop in real life, you have most likely met her adorable little girls, but always seems to find the time for her customers. She always keeps her Facebook page up to date, whether that is supporting other WAHMS (work at home moms), giving updates about her shop, or just keeping involved in online babywearing support groups. You can always count on Tanya to get back to you ASAP if you have a question, or need an opinion on something. Tara and I (and pretty much anyone that has dealt with Precious Earth have big love for Tanya :) Yay! Totally makes you feel great about supporting a local company when you know you can trust what you are buying, and WHO you are buying it from. Brings the "small town" "buying from friends" feel to purchasing online.?
Precious Earth carries a variety of "earth conscious" products such as: amber and hazelwood items for the whole family, "green" food storage options *Lunchbots , To-Go Ware & Planet-Wise bags* , mama-cloth, playthings, cloth diapers, skin care products and even toooooooons of beautiful?clothing and? baby-wearing options (woven wraps, ring slings and soft shelled carriers). Where to start, hey? If you had a shopping spree to Precious Earth, what would catch your eye first? Where would you spend your winnings?? EEEK. I think I would need... well one of everything, right? The more to share with friends ;) I am so happy to see that Precious Earth carries my absolute faaaaaavorite slippers ever...?Padraig Wool Slippers (local North Vancouver, BC, Canada company). Oooooh my. Best slippers for those cozy fall and winter nights. Each pair is unique and totally one of a kind, hand crocheted, hand dyed, and just beautiful.? My son and I have matching pairs actually, and he is super bummed that his no longer fit him. Good to know that I can replenish my supply with a few easy clicks. Oh online shopping how I love thee. These slippers come in all sizes from newborn, to adult and make an awesome present for that hard to buy for person on your shopping list. :) :) Won't disappoint that's for sure! And again, so happy to support a local Canadian company! They are made
Precious Earth also has an awesome variety of cloth diapers. Sigh. You know you are a mom when looking at cloth diapers online makes you squeal. I can't believe I just admitted that out loud... yes, old rugby friends, it's TRUE! Oh well, they all knew I was nerdy when I used to knit on the way to games ;) haha. Seriously, though... these are not the same cloth diapers that our parents used when we were babies. There are just so many fun options out there now. So addicting!!
?You know what is more addicting than cloth diapers though (yessss, I just admitted that, too)...eeek...baby carriers. Try explaining to a guy why you need more than one. "But honey, they are all different!!" Sigh. Does not go over too well in this house, but my stash is still slowly growing ;)? Hey, I'm the one trying to get stuff done every day while juggling a toddler who likes to be carried everywhere and a 4 year old, who has decided that walking far distances (up the street to the mailbox *siiiiiigh 4 year olds*) is overrated. Babywearing for the win! Even my littles love trying to wear their little stuffed animal friends and baby dolls around the house but we have yet to buy them their own "real" carrier. Usually they come up to me crying while trying to put a doll on their back by themselves with a blanket just draped over top. So cute. Seriously, how sweet are these baby-wearing options for kids!?? What a great idea, and so much easier for them to manipulate themselves. Perfect gift to give my kids this fall to welcome their new baby sibling so they can "baby wear" just like mama and daddy. Now the only hard part is to pick which one... totally loving all of these.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ? ?? ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Well, if the kids are getting their own new carrier, it is only fair that mama gets one for the new baby, too ;) Right?? Tanya has a great selection of baby-wearing options to suit your needs (and heart), everything from the bright and colourful Easycare, where you can pick up their Rainbow No.1 woven wrap:
to the super supportive BB Slen Pineapple:
to the EVER popular Girasol (comes in a variety of beaaaautiful color combinations):
and many other popular brands, if the brand that you are looking for is not available for purchase at Precious Earth yet, let Tanya know and she will do her best to try to get it in. Awesome, hey!??! Dangerous, too though because... everything is soooooooooo pretty. IWANTALLTHEWRAPS. Not to worry though if you are not "into" woven wraps or stretchies (YET)... Precious Earth, also carries a variety of soft shelled carriers (SSC). HOOORAAAAY, right?? Hey, even the most seasoned "baby-wearing" guru has a need for a good SSC every once in awhile. SSC carriers are great for quick trips to the grocery store, long walks and just fast & easy "uppies". If you have questions about which SSC is best for you, I am sure that Tanya would help you out, and suit you up with what would be best for you and your babe/toddler/child. As far as SSCs, her store currently offers both the Beco Gemini and the Beco Butterfly, Olives and Applesauce (O&A) and the Boba.
Tara and I both recently purchased woven wraps for our babes from Precious Earth for our fall babies...
Mmmmmmmmm beautiful rainbow-y goodness. Can't wait to see our little pumpkins all wrapped up and huggled close. Which carrier, wrap or sling is your favorite? Like I said, there is a time and a place for alllll of them, so no need to pick just one ;) Since I am fairly new to woven wraps (was a total SSC and sling girl with my other babes), I wanted to try a variety of options to see what was out there and what would work best for us. I must say, I am totally attracted? to the eye-catching Girasols... it is hard not to be, they are just so bright and beautiful and come in soooo many colours, shades and rainbows. So of course I had to give in and say YES to at LEAST one Girasol in my carrier "stash", but I was at a loss as to what to get next... I talked back and forth with Tanya for awhile and she suggested that I try the totally underrated BB Slen in a shorty size. She assured me that it was one of the most supportive, and "go-to's" in her "stash" (she has a wrap conversion ring sling in BB Slen Pineapple). She graciously sent me a BB Slen shorty (260cm/ size 2/ 2.6m) to try, which, to be honest, scared me at first. Seriously, I am a newbie to wovens remember?? Especially with this big preggo belly in the way, the thought of a SERIOUSLY short, shorty scared me. I also was interested to see how Pineapple looked in person because in every single online photo I could find, it looked different and mostly brown based... so I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived to see that it actually was way more colourful and filled with tiny stripes of other colours, too. I had to snap this photo with my phone right away:?
SO pretty! Reminds me of shoestring licorice. mmmm. The good thing with a shorter wrap is that you don't have tons of excess fabric hanging around dragging on the ground, so you can just pick babe up, and "throw" them into a simple back carry or even practice your slip knot and do a ring sling type carry without the ring sling. Cool, hey?? When all else fails, google 'carries with a size 2 woven wrap" and you can find tons of cool stuff (make sure that they are SAFE carries, look for reputable video producers such as Paxbaby). Tanya was totally right about BB Slen being an underrated wrap, this is totally a wrap that I would not have picked out on my own but am now SUPER happy and thankful that it is in my stash. Thank you, Precious Earth!!! Right out of the bag it feels soft, and sturdy without being too thick or cumbersome. I love how the shoulders are super cushy, and don't dig into me in a ruck/back carry, which can sometimes happen with other wraps.
?I cannot wait to learn more carries with this bad-boy. I think it will be an awesome work-horse to have once my new baby is here... currently baby #2 is 20months and 24lbs, and I am a bit (err a lot) bigger because of being pregnant so our carrying options are a tad limited at the moment, as we use up a lot of the wrap... but with a new squish and my semi-back to normal body back, I think we will enjoy this wrap even more than I do now. If you are looking for a woven that you can count on to be supportive give a BB Slen a try. If you don't believe me, start asking around and I am sure you will find a ton of girls that agree. If you are not friends with Precious Earth on?Facebook yet, add them! Keep up to date on their super deal of the day, contests, tips, and just be involved in the love! Be sure to tell them that?Canadian Natural Mama Reviews sent you :)?

Thanks again SO much Tanya & Precious Earth!
