The sultanate?s elite few would meet here; and the museum now has weapons, jewelery, clothes, among other exhibits. A garden on the first floor has stone houses and a palm frond hut.

Leaving the capital, we encounter even more forts, several of which have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Included in these are Bahla, which dates from the 1200s. You?ll find more in Oman than just forts, though. The desert surroundings, such as the dunes at Wahiba Sands, are a highlight for any holidaymaker. And also Masirah Island is famous for its uncommon wildlife, such as the huge loggerhead turtles; here one may go camping, or spend the night in a hotel.?? Despite the present political crisis, no violence has been reported in Muscat; and the country remains a safe place for your luxury Oman family holidays .
